The Moodo Smart Aroma Diffuser was created by Agan Aroma, that has been in the fragrance industry for over 35 years. Moodo doesn’t use your typical liquid essential oils, but fragrance capsules that are packed with scent-infused beads. But those beads don’t come from just anywhere. They were carefully crafted in Grasse, France, the world capital of perfumes, with only premium ingredients.
Therefore, the great difference between this diffuser and your typical essential oil diffuser are those fragrance pods. Inserted in each of the four slots on top of the device, they allow you to preload four scents at a time. Those scents can be used individually, by pairs or by scent families; a mix of scents that have been carefully curated to complement each other when harmonized. You can also save your own scent combinations after you have “mixed” a fragrance on the equalizer mode on the app.
The App
Yes you read correctly. This is a smart diffuser that can be controlled using it’s own smartphone app. The device itself does have manual controls on it as a backup, but the full potential of the Moodo diffuser comes with it’s user friendly app.
Here’s how it works. The Moodo app, connected to the diffuser through wifi, automatically recognizes which scent pod is in each slot. Depending on which scent family has been loaded, the app suggests a series of preset scent themes, obtained by varying the intensity of each individual scent in the mix. These can then again be customized according to personal preferences. It also allows you to create and save your own signature scent combinations. The app also let’s users automatically program days, times and durations when the Moodo will operate and which scent will then be dispersed.
The Scent
Most customers are very satisfied with the complex and subtle smell that fills their home. And considering this diffuser allows probably the most customization on the market, there really is a scent combination for everyone. Some people do prefer the more natural smell of pure essential oils, but the majority of users were quite happy.
Each of the four fragrance pods has it’s own individual fan, meaning the intensity of each scent can be altered to create the perfect combination.
These fragrance capsules are quite potent in nature because they were designed for longevity and coverage. Moodo fragrance capsules should last about 2 months or 60 hours of continual use, without having to worry about clean-ups or refills in between uses as with typical water based diffusers. It may even last longer depending on your scent strength setting, or when it is used with the interval feature.
Coverage
Moodo can spread out the aroma through about a 600sqft room, Since it is Wi-Fi enabled, you can set it up anytime, anywhere, using the app.

A few downsides
Some users also experienced incompatibility issues with their routers. In some regions, Moodo may not connect to Siri or Google. It may also require multiple attempts to connect Moodo to your Wi-Fi router – even to the point of having to perform a factory reset on the device to clear all stored connection settings. Hopefully, this step fixes the issue.
For some users, the fans on the device made a quite noticeable buzzing sound. To resolve this, you simply have to call Moodo technical support to have it reconfigured. This can be done remotely, without the need to return your device.
As for the price, the Moodo starts at $99.90, with the battery option for an additional $20 and comes with 1 scent family of your choice. Refills are $29.90 for each scent family or 4-packs.
Overall, it performs its promise of being the first smart aroma diffuser and scent DJ, allowing you to mix and match your own signature scents to be enjoyed at home, in the office or anywhere else (for up to 600sqft/55sqm coverage). Though technology-wise the app still has a lot of room for improvement, with the initial setup being frustrating for some users, most customers were overall satisfied with the functionality of the app and the device.
